EYEGLASS LENSES WITH BLUE LIGHT FILTER –
targeted protection against digital eye strain

Reduce eye strain from screen work with blue light filters

Eyeglass lenses with blue light protection how to protect yourself from digital eye strain caused by blue light exposure

In our everyday digital lives, our eyes are constantly exposed to blue, short-wave light – whether from smartphone displays, tablets, monitors, or even LED lighting. This light can lead to tired, irritated, dry, or watery eyes – a condition known as “digital eye strain.” In addition, blue light impairs contrast vision and can increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration in the long term.

Here's how you can counteract eye strain when working at a computer screen!

Spending too much time in front of a screen can cause eye strain, which can manifest itself in the form of dry, irritated eyes, headaches, or blurred vision. To counteract this, we have put together some helpful tips for you:

1. Take regular breaks: Allow yourself a short break every 1-2 hours. Stand up, stretch, or do a few light stretching exercises. This helps to prevent tension.

2. Set up your workplace ergonomically: Make sure your chair and screen are at the right height and position to promote good posture and prevent neck pain.

3. Drink enough water: Dehydration can increase headaches. Make sure you drink enough water, especially if you sit at your desk for long periods of time.

4. Exercise regularly: A short walk during your lunch break promotes blood circulation and can help prevent headaches and eye strain.

5. Ensure adequate lighting: Poor lighting can put additional strain on the eyes. Make sure your workplace is well lit to avoid eye strain.

6. Use blue light filter lenses: The blue light emitted by digital devices strains our eyes and can lead to symptoms such as headaches, poor sleep, irritated/dry eyes, or blurred vision. Blue light filter lenses help block harmful blue light and relieve eye strain.

What are the typical symptoms of digital eye strain?

Classic symptoms of digital eye strain include:

  • Blurred vision and difficulty focusing
  • Headaches and eye pain
  • Blue light inhibits the production of melatonin and thus disrupts our natural sleep rhythm
  • Tired, irritated, dry, or watery eyes
  • Neck/shoulder pain, tension
  • Fatigue, exhaustion, and difficulty concentrating

Wearing lenses with blue light protection on a regular basis can help prevent these symptoms.

Our Recommendation for Protection Against Blue Light

UV420 Lens Materials

Our UV420 materials Protect and Eagle Eyes offer effective protection here: they completely block harmful light up to 410 nm and reduce the spectrum from 410 to 420 nm by 86%. For relaxed and protected eyes in everyday digital life.

THE DIFFERENCE – PROTECT & EAGLE EYES
Blue Light Filtering & Contrast Enhancement

With Protect and Eagle Eyes, we offer two innovative UV420 materials that effectively filter blue light and significantly improve contrast vision. Both reduce the effects of digital eye strain and reliably relieve your eyes. The difference? Eagle Eyes also offers a yellow light filter that filters out the light spectrum between 580 and 590 nm. The result: an impressive increase in contrast that is particularly impressive in poor visibility conditions and at night. Thanks to the combination of UV420 and yellow light filters, Eagle Eyes is the ideal companion – at the computer, in everyday life and especially behind the wheel. Especially at night, your customers benefit from less glare, better distance estimation and earlier object recognition – for relaxed vision around the clock, without changing glasses.

REDUCTION OF THE LIGHT SPECTRUM

The light spectrum is completely reduced up to 410 nm and by 86% between 410 and 420 nm. An additional reduction of the light spectrum at 585 nm enables glare-free and high-contrast vision.

Crystal-clear images without tired and irritated eyes: in combination with our 4 Office Play & Play Plus lens designs, Eagle Eyes are the perfect lenses for gamers. Whether your customers are professional gamers or casual players, our gaming lenses allow them to unleash their full gaming potential and enjoy an eye-friendly gaming experience! Why do you need blue light lenses, what does the blue light filter do?

Digital eye strain describes the strain on the eyes caused by long periods of screen time – often accompanied by dryness, burning or blurred vision.

Typical symptoms include dry or watery eyes, headaches, tired eyes, blurred vision and concentration problems.

Blue light is high-energy light in the visible spectrum that is emitted primarily by screens, LEDs and digital devices.

They reduce the amount of harmful blue light, relieve strain on the eyes and improve visual comfort when using digital devices.

For anyone who spends a lot of time in front of screens every day – whether at the office, working from home, gaming or reading on a tablet.

Yes – blue light can inhibit the release of melatonin, also known as the ‘sleep hormone’. It is mainly produced in the pineal gland (epiphysis) in the brain and regulates the body’s day-night rhythm. Melatonin levels rise in the evening when it is dark, making you tired and signalling to the body that it is time to sleep. Light – especially blue light from screens – can inhibit the release of melatonin and thus disrupt the natural sleep-wake cycle.
That’s why blue light filters in lenses or being mindful of screen time in the evening can help improve sleep.

Depending on the material, lenses with blue light filters may appear slightly tinted:

  • UV420 Eagle Eyes has a subtle blue tint that improves contrast vision, especially when driving and at night.
  • UV420 Protect appears slightly greyish.

Both versions are visually unobtrusive and do not impair the aesthetics of the lenses or colour perception – on the contrary: the increase in contrast also improves colour vision.
